Hosanna

Written by Nathalie & Alex LESAGE. Posted in Les gros mots de la Bible

Any bible for children contains this word but only few parents are able to explain it. When the Jews shouted “Hosanna” during the procession of Jesus to Jerusalem, none was ignorant of its meaning. It was usual to shout the verse 25 of the Psalm 118: “Lord, save us! Lord grant us success”, in Hebrew: “Hosanna”. Before the arrival of Jesus on earth, Hosanna was a desperate praise. But God’s answer to His people was already sent. That is why the Jews welcomed Jesus with a joyful Hosanna. An insistent praise became a thankfully cry. Because of Jesus, Hosanna is a joyful topic for everyone.
